Visages
This series of works were done in collaboration with Caroline Furr. I worked on the sculptural elements and Caroline responded to the material qualities and the emotion conveyed in the expression as codified in words such as Desire and Ecstasy. I looked at Japanese Noh masks and sculptures of the Buddha and Bernini's Saint Theresa for inspiration as I invented the heads. My ambition was to present open, optimistic visages verging on the ecstatic.
